27th - 29th May 2011
This marvellous weekend saw us reach our target & exceed it beyond our wildest dreams!!
This would not have been possible without the tremendous support which we have received from so many. Thank-you.
We would also like to thank the local businesses who have so generously sponsored us, helping us to achieve our goal:
Tom Cobley Inn, Spreyton
Waitrose Supermarket, Okehampton
Co-Operative Supermarket, Okehampton
Lidl, Okehampton

and all the pubs who have placed collecting tins on their bars

FORCE works locally  to support anyone affected by cancer

Sallie
Sallie Reason RIP

Cogs and Wheels Ladies Morris have made FORCE their chosen charity for 2011. We are making a special effort to raise the grand sum of £5,000 for FORCE. We hope to achieve this through a variety of activities.
The main focus has been WESTWARD HEY!, which was held over the Bank Holiday weekend of 27th - 29th May. We walked / processed / danced our way from our home village of Sticklepath, near Okehampton in Devon, across the border into Cornwall before invading Launceston Castle.

Why? we hear you ask! Our members have recently been severely affected by cancer, and the support of FORCE has been invaluable. Jeanette, one of our dancers, lost her husband Terry to cancer last year. Sallie, a founder member and former Squire, also lost her battle against cancer in January 2011; mother Yvonne has also been with us since the start. Another member is currently going through treatment.

Although FORCE is based in Exeter, it provides support throughout the South West peninsular. Funds raised will finance improvements in cancer care through research, the funding of advanced equipment and through an Information and Support Centre. The Centre offers a relaxed and comfortable steting where experienced staff can help and support patients. You can find out more on the work of FORCE through their web site here.
